Breaking Boundaries With Beauty: Sheila Sloan

I had the pleasure of speaking with Beauty Advisor Sheila Sloan, who has used Motives Beauty Brand's products and resources to expand her personal and professional growth. Sheila is boldly redefining beauty standards and collaborating with others to build her own empire. Congratulations, Sheila! Your inspirational journey and unwavering support for those around you are truly commendable.



How were you introduced to Motives? 


I was introduced by a couple who my husband met at his job in late 2012 where he was the waiter at Red Lobster. They invited us to a health and beauty event. OPC-3 was one of the products that was talked about the most, so this really got my husband very intrigued. At the health and beauty event I was asked to be a face model, the makeup artist mixed up a foundation using the custom blend, that really intrigued me. From that day forward custom blend fell into my heart around then.


Around early 2014, my husband entered into a singing competition

called The Voice, that’s when we both decided that we really needed to purchase the custom blend kit because we were confident with how the system taught us on starting out with 30 faces in 30 days and we felt that we had to make this happen in order for things to change.





What made you want to learn more about Motives, and eventually partner with the company?



After going to the health and beauty event with my husband, we were a little excited when we got home, then after doing a little research on owning your own makeup line or creating a makeup business. In 2015 I began seeing a lot of women who were growing in their makeup businesses, and they were excelling, creating their own makeup and skincare lines. I started teaching myself how to become a great makeup artist, learning the ins and outs of the different products, such as foundation, concealer, contouring, highlighting, also learning how to use it the proper way. Motives Cosmetics had an awesome training system that really started showing me how to conduct consultations, I started learning about the products that I owned. That’s when things turned around, in 2015. We were making great retail utilizing the custom blend kit. I began working with models, designers, brides as well as local celebrities on a daily basis. 





How are you leveraging the trainings and events to propel your business to new levels?


Utilizing the Motives Official Facebook private group and the Motives Beauty Business Academy website, I have been using them to share the trainings with my partners that are in different cities and states which allows me to have so much leverage and time freedom to work with all of my partners from around the country on their times and levels of commitment. 


Our training systems also helps with leveraging my customers that are not in my close proximity working with clients all the way in Sacramento California back up to Des Moines Iowa all the down to Virginia.


And I am based in the Carolinas. Our Motives events are awesome because they help me with introducing the products to my partners, they allow them to touch and feel the products also learning from industry professionals who not only have degrees in their field, but they also have field experience which gives them the credibility to say they are true teachers.




In what way have you maximized your existing business as a pro makeup artist by incorporating Motives into your kit?


Partnering up with Market America in 2015. I didn’t realize that I was becoming who I am today. I took Motives Cosmetics and made myself become Glam-N-Fab-Beauty By Sheila and when I say made myself, I literally became a Makeup Artist because of our exclusive luxury line of makeup and the customization blend package, that I created to showcase during different high-end fashion events, luxury weddings, and high-end photoshoots throughout the Carolinas and surrounding cities which allowed me to go in and be able to transform models while on the runway with a much more photogenic look. Finding a high end fashion hub allowed me to come in, do makeup, also meet models and designers which eventually elevated into working with high-end photographers, and becoming a published creative makeup artist. 




What are you most excited about in regard to long-term goals leveraging Motives?


Since 2020 I have began to scale my business in a different direction, because when the company became virtual I became global, reaching people, faster and easier, utilizing social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Tick-Tock, and business building platforms to show off my studio and communicate globally by utilizing the app that our company partnered with called ZOOM. 


Also our Global Meeting & Training Seminar System (GMTSS) has helped with training with top trainers and field leaders from around the world, and these were trainings that I would have never been able to get too because of where the events were located, not having to travel around the world but still getting the trainings from around the world.


I’m excited about learning what it takes for me to teach others how to be successful in themselves and the joy of seeing them evolve. The gift of watching my family grow, knowing that I have a part in securing a legacy for my family watching over my future. Motives will always be a part of supplemental income for me and my entire family because of the power of beauty and what it brings in life. * Beauty From The Inside Out is a life changing experience a journey to joyful memories.
